India’s 2030 Commonwealth Games bid approved, final decision on November 26

In a major boost to India’s sporting ambitions, Ahmedabad has been officially recommended as the host city for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. The announcement came after the Commonwealth Sport Executive Board meeting, which confirmed the proposal on Wednesday. The final decision will be made at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26, 2025.

A Landmark Moment for Commonwealth Sport

The recommendation follows a rigorous evaluation process by the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee, which assessed proposals based on infrastructure, governance, athlete experience, and alignment with Commonwealth values. Competing against Abuja, Nigeria, Ahmedabad impressed with its detailed plan and strong commitment to the spirit of the Games.

Dr. P. T. Usha, President of the Commonwealth Games Association of India, said the Games would reflect India’s journey toward Viksit Bharat 2047, inspiring youth and fostering global ties.

Looking Ahead

If approved, this will be India’s second time hosting the Commonwealth Games after New Delhi 2010. With world-class facilities like the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, Ahmedabad is poised to deliver a spectacular edition that celebrates 100 years of Commonwealth sporting excellence.
