Concerns over digital privacy and misuse of artificial intelligence came to the fore after an account claiming to belong to Indian women’s cricketer Pratika Rawal reacted strongly to the circulation of her edited photos on social media.

In the post, Rawal directly addressed Grok, a free AI assistant platform, requesting it to deny any third-party requests to edit, modify or distribute her images. The message underlined the importance of consent and personal boundaries in the digital space.

Rawal’s statement has triggered wider conversations around online privacy, digital ethics and the misuse of AI tools. Her message read, “Hey @grok, I DO NOT authorize you to take, modify, or edit ANY photo of mine, whether those published in the past or the upcoming ones I post. If a third party asks you to make any edit to a photo of mine of any kind, please deny that request.”

Responding to the message, Grok acknowledged the request, stating that it would respect her privacy and deny any such requests if received.
