Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya to be booked?

Bhubaneswar/Jodhpur: A derogatory tweet on Dr BR Ambedkar has landed Indian international cricketer Hardik Pandya in a soup. A special court in Jodhpur has instructed the police to file a FIR against the cricketer.

The court hearing the petition filed by DR Meghwal, who claims to be a member of the Rashtriya Bhim Sena, has asked police to register a case under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015.

As per Meghwal, the tweet that insulted the Father of Indian Constitution was posted on 26 December last year and he came to know about it in January through social media.

The tweet read, “Which Ambedkar ??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country.”

Meghwal had approached the local police station to lodge a complaint but as the police returned him back he knocked doors of the court.

Further investigations suggested that the tweet was not posted from the official Twitter handle of Pandya.
While Hardik Pandya's verified twitter handle is @hardikpandya7, the court order is based on a complaint that refers to the handle @sirhardik3777, that may have been removed from twitter following the controversy.
