Once hailed as India’s next all-format superstar, Shubman Gill is finding it tough to rediscover his rhythm in T20 cricket. After rewriting history with over 700 runs in the England series, fans believed Gill had cemented his place across all formats. However, since being included in the Asia Cup squad, the 24-year-old has struggled to replicate that dominance in the shortest format.
In the ongoing India vs Australia T20 series, Gill’s poor form has once again become a talking point. Dismissed for just 5 runs in the second T20, his tally since his T20I comeback stands at 169 runs from nine innings, averaging 24.14 with a strike rate of 148.24.
Fans Demand Jaiswal’s Return
Frustrated fans have taken to social media demanding the return of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was left out despite a stellar record. The young southpaw last represented India in July 2024 during the Sri Lanka tour also Gill’s last series before his comeback. Jaiswal boasts 723 runs from 22 innings, averaging 36.15 with one century and five fifties, making a strong case for inclusion.

India’s Batting Collapse Raises Questions
Meanwhile, India suffered a dramatic top-order collapse against Australia, undone by Josh Hazlewood’s fiery spell. Thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s brilliant 68 and a handy cameo from Harshit Rana, India managed to post 125 runs.
As the debate intensifies, one question looms large, Will Yashasvi Jaiswal finally get his chance, or will he continue to watch from the sidelines?
