Abhigyan Kundu
India Under-19 cricketer Abhigyan Kundu etched his name into the record books on Tuesday with a sensational double century against Malaysia during an U-19 Asia Cup match in Dubai. The young batter produced a stunning knock of 209 runs from just 125 deliveries, reaching his double hundred in only 121 balls.
During his remarkable innings, Kundu went past Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing record of 177 to register the highest individual score by an Indian in U-19 ODI cricket. He also overtook teammate Vaibhav Suryavanshi to claim the top individual score of the ongoing tournament. Kundu’s explosive knock featured 17 boundaries and nine sixes.
The Mumbai youngster also rewrote history by smashing the fastest double century in U-19 ODIs, bettering South African Jorich van Schalkwyk’s previous mark of 145 balls. With 209 runs, Kundu now holds the second-highest individual score in U-19 ODI history, behind van Schalkwyk’s 215 against Zimbabwe. However, these records will not be officially recognised as they came against an associate nation. His innings helped India U-19 post a massive total of 408 for seven while batting first.

A skilled wicketkeeper-batter, Kundu had earlier made useful contributions in the tournament, including a knock of 22 against Pakistan, along with a couple of safe catches behind the stumps. Born on April 30, 2008, he represents Mumbai in domestic cricket.
Earlier in the competition, his teammate Vaibhav Suryavanshi had also impressed with a blistering 171 off 95 balls against the UAE, which stands as the ninth-highest individual score in U-19 ODI history.
