Ind vs SA T20I: Tight security and fire safety measures in place for Barabati encounter

The Director General (DG) of Fire Services, Sudhanshu Sarangi, has inspected the fire safety infrastructure inside the stadium to ensure that adequate precautionary measures are in place.

Preparations are underway at all levels to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated hosting of the upcoming T20I encounter between India and South Africa at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on December 9.

As per reports, a three-tier security arrangement has been put in place to manage the event efficiently and maintain order.

The Director General (DG) of Fire Services, Sudhanshu Sarangi, has inspected the fire safety infrastructure inside the stadium to ensure that adequate precautionary measures are in place.

Senior officials of the Fire Services Department also reviewed various safety arrangements during their visit. All necessary systems are being closely monitored and strengthened to ensure a safe environment for spectators and players on the match day.

"We have held an elaborate discussion with the authorities of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) to address any kind of eventualities related to fire hazards and other emergency situations. Around 350 fire service personnel will be deployed at the stadium. A total of 21 fire tenders will be stationed, and seven temporary fire stations will be set up for the match. In addition, pumps will be installed to draw water from Gadagadia Ghat and other sources as required. We will also establish two control rooms, from where situations will be monitored and managed through CCTV surveillance," said DG of Fire Services, Sudhanshu Sarangi.

"We are fully prepared to tackle any challenge. Responsibilities of officials in different scenarios have also been clearly discussed. Our priority is to ensure that spectators enjoy the match in a safe, secure and well-managed environment," he added.
