Bhubaneswar: After the scintillating and vibrant inaugural ceremony of the Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar and Celebrations event in Cuttack, talks are doing rounds that noted Bollywood celebrities and cricketers including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar are likely to join the closing ceremony of the on-going sporting extravaganza.

Speculations are rife that Bachchan, Tendulkar, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and many more eminent personalities including former Indian cricketers Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly are likely to grace the closing ceremony of the mega event at the Kalinga stadium on December 16.

According to sources, the State government has sent formal requests to the celebrities to attend the closing event. However, no response has been received from the celebrities yet.

Meanwhile the Odisha Sports and Youth Services department is hopeful that the celebrities would give their consent to join the mega event, an official of the department informed on condition of anonymity.

Several Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and A R Rehman performed at the opening ceremony at the Kalinga Stadium on November 27 while Salman Khan also attended the World cup celebration along with music maestro A R Rehman at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Wednesday
