Bhubaneswar: Tom Craig scored thrice while Jeremy Hayward's brace helped Australia thrash England 8-1 in the bronze medal match of the Hockey World Cup here on Sunday.

Australia controlled the proceedings right from the start. England found the back of the net in the 45th minute via Barry Middleton.

For Australia, apart from Craig (ninth minute, 19th, 34th) and Hayward (57th, 60th), Blake Govers (eighth), Timothy Brand (34th) and Trent Mitton (32nd) found the back of the net to complete the thrashing.

Australia made 20 penetrations inside the circle and slammed 12 shots on the goal while the English side made 12 circle penetrations and fired nine shots on the goal.
