The suitable dates will be announced by Hockey India after deliberation with the host Member Unit."

"We have invited all-state member units interested in hosting the annual National Championships to express their interest before the stipulated time," said Hockey India President Mohammed Mushtaque Ahmad.

"At Hockey India, we have ensured the ongoing nationwide lockdown does not affect the planning and execution of our day-to-day work and all the Hockey India officials have been working from home to ensure the calendar for next year is actioned.

"As the annual National Championships are restructured from next year onwards, we are hopeful there will be a lot of interest from state member units, institutional/ department members and academies to host these respective tournaments," he added.

Hockey India had earlier postponed all its rescheduled national championships indefinitely after the national lockdown to contain the COVID-19 pandemic was extended till May 3.  These tournaments were rescheduled to start on April 29 and continue till July 3 but have been suspended for now.

Meanwhile, Indian Women's Hockey Team has raised an overwhelming Rs 20,01,130 through crowdfunding, which they donated to a Delhi based NGO to provide basic necessities for patients hosted at various location, migrant workers and slum dwellers. While the challenge aimed to raise crowdfunding for the cause, the movement also encouraged people to use this opportunity to adapt to an active lifestyle during the nationwide lockdown.

Hockey India earlier had donated Rs 21 lakh to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the state fight the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
