Bhubaneswar: After the emphatic win against Iran in the opening match of the Hero Gold Cup at Kalinga Stadium, the Indian Women's Football team is confident to put up a superb show in the tournament, said Odia footballer Jabamani Tudu after the match.

Tudu, who became the first player from Odisha to play an international match in her home ground, said that it was really a great feeling to achieve the feat.

In an exclusive interview to OTV, Tudu sounded confident that the team would emerge champion in the Hero Gold Cup championship. Born in Odisha, Tudu plays in the forward position for the India women’s national football team.

"It was really a great feeling to play an international match before the home crowd. We are looking forward to other matches in the tournament," said Tudu.

Earlier, the Indian women began their campaign in the Hero Gold Cup on a winning note by defeating IR Iran by solitary goal played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Anju Tamang’s match-winner in the 48th minute ensured India made it five wins in a row having won the last four Friendlies against Hong Kong and Indonesia respectively.

Tudu further said that the Hero Gold Cup tournament will help us a lot as other teams participating in the tournament have qualified for the Round 2 of Olympic qualifiers.

"I think the upcoming game against Myanmar would be challenging. But the team is well prepared and we are confident to win the tournament," Tudu added.
