T20 World Cup 2026
The United States cricket team has been dealt a serious blow on the eve of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with several players reportedly unable to secure Indian visas for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Leading fast bowler Ali Khan has confirmed that his visa application has been rejected, casting doubt over his participation in the marquee event. Born in Pakistan, Ali Khan is considered a key member of the USA bowling attack, and his absence would significantly weaken the side.
Worryingly for the American camp, Ali Khan is not the only player facing visa issues. Reports suggest that Shayan Jahangir, Ehsan Adil, and Mohammad Mohsin have also been denied Indian visas, leaving the team scrambling just days before the tournament begins on February 7.
The uncertainty has caused major concern within the USA squad, which was preparing to compete with a full-strength lineup. With the World Cup fast approaching, the possible loss of several experienced players could severely dent the team’s prospects in the global event.
The problem appears to be part of a broader issue affecting multiple associate nations. Players of Pakistani origin or those holding Pakistani passports are reportedly facing difficulties in obtaining clearance to enter India. As a result, teams such as the UAE, Oman, Italy, and Canada have also been unable to finalize their World Cup squads.

Officials from the affected cricket boards have approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) seeking intervention, but a resolution is still awaited. The delays have raised fears of last-minute disruptions that could impact team balance and overall tournament competitiveness.
While visa challenges are not uncommon in international sporting events, the situation has put pressure on the ICC and tournament organizers to ensure smooth participation for all qualified teams. Any prolonged uncertainty could influence performances in the crucial Super 12 and Super 8 stages.
