Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin showered praise on South Africa A’s young opener Jordan Hermann after the 23-year-old produced a masterful knock of 94 against a formidable India A bowling lineup. Hermann’s innings not only impressed cricket fans but also helped his side script a stunning five-wicket win while chasing a mammoth 417-run target in Bengaluru.

Hermann’s Heroics Against a Star-Studded Attack

Facing an attack featuring Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep, Hermann stood tall with an elegant display of stroke play. His 94 off 123 balls, laced with 13 fours and a six, gave South Africa A a strong start. The young left-hander forged a crucial 156-run stand with Lesego Senokwane (77), setting up the foundation for a memorable chase.

Ashwin took to X (formerly Twitter) to applaud Hermann’s performance, writing, “South Africa ‘A’ led by Jordan Hermann are throwing in some punches on Day 4… Whatever happens today, Hermann has made rapid strides in South African cricket circles.”

South Africa A Pull Off Record Chase

Although Hermann missed out on a well-deserved century, his innings set the tone for South Africa A’s historic pursuit. Key contributions from Zubayr Hamza (77) and Temba Bavuma (59) kept the scoreboard ticking before Connor Esterhuizen (52 off 53)* and Tiaan van Vuuren (20 off 23)* guided the visitors to victory in 98 overs.

Captain Marques Ackerman, who struck a brilliant 134 in the first innings, was named Player of the Match.
