It appears that Team India’s selectors, along with the head coach and captains, are reluctant to include Mohammed Shami in any format at the moment. Despite his consistent performances for the national side, the seasoned pacer has been overlooked for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. He has also been left out of both the Test and T20I squads.

Unhappy with these decisions, Shami has reportedly expressed his frustration with the management’s approach toward him.

Reacting to the development, South African legend AB de Villiers said it seems the team has decided to move on from Shami.

“It’s a big decision. They have moved past him, though I’m not entirely sure of the full story. Perhaps he’s dealing with some fitness issues or has lost a bit of his pace and sharpness. Still, this doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for him,” De Villiers remarked.

“If Shami can still generate good speed, that’s crucial. From what I’ve observed, he may have lost some of his pace, and that could be the reason behind his exclusion," he added.

De Villiers, a long-time admirer of Shami’s bowling, expressed hope that the Indian pacer would make a strong comeback to the national team.

In the most recent Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Shami struggled for form while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, finding it difficult to pick up wickets and leaking runs at an expensive rate.
