Bhubaneswar: Eyes are fixed on performance of Odia sprinters Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda and Amiya Mallick who will be representing India in the 100 metre dash at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship starting at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today.

The first phase of the mega sports event will start with 100 metre sprint for men along with 400 metre and 1500 metre for both men and women. It will be followed by high jump, long jump and shot put event for men.

In the second phase, competition in 12 events for both men and women will start in the afternoon.

It may be mentioned that more than 700 athletes from 45 countries will be participating in 42 sporting events in the championship.

Odia athlete Srabani Nanda had the honour of taking the oath on behalf of athletes at the opening ceremony of the Asian Athletics Meet yesterday that was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
