Ex-Ranji captain Haladhar Das caught on wrong foot over rash driving

Cuttack: Former captain of Odisha Ranji team Haladhar Das was caught on the wrong foot when Commissionerate police detained him for reckless driving causing series of accidents in the city today.

The ex-Ranji player was chased and intercepted by locals at Chahata road after he injured several people by hitting their vehicles between Mangalabag square and Chahataghat here. He was later handed over to Bidanasi police. He is being questioned.

“At first he hit a bike near stadium and sped away after locals tried to intercept him. He seems to be in an inebriated condition,” Bidanasi police IIC Pradipta Rout said.

Meanwhile, two accident victims lodged separate complaints at Cantonment Police Station.

“He hit our bike from behind near the stadium and we fell down. I have sustained injuries on leg whereas my brother has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition,” Srikant Jena, a victim said.
