Napoli/Bhubaneswar: Bringing accolades to Odisha and the country yet again, ace sprinter Dutee Chand won the 100m sprint at the Universiade, the World University Games, in Naples on Tuesday. With this, she became the first Indian to win a gold medal at this global event.

Dutee finished the race in just 11.32 seconds. Ajla Del Ponte of Switzerland and Lisa Kwayie of Germany won the Silver and Bronze medals, respectively.

She later took to Twitter and posted a picture of her with the gold medal along with the other medalists.

Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind has congratulated Dutee on her achievement.

Likewise,Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Dutee Chand.

It is pertinent to mention that Dutee featured in the cover page of Cosmopolitan magazine, in July edition.
