Cuttack: The 80th National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championship will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack from January 4 to January 9, 2019. Over 550 players from the different parts of country including players from Odisha will battle it out during the mega championship.

The Odisha State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA) is going to host the national event after a gap of 12 years. OSTTA officials informed that the championship will help in producing more players from the state.

“It is a matter of pride for us that we are organising the championship for the second time which is a big challenge for us,” Secretary of Odisha State Table Tennis Association, Rabindra Kumar Parida said.

A total of 550 players from all over the country including Commonwealth games and National championship medal winners will participate in the championship, added Parida.

The Odisha Sports department informed that a permanent coach for the State Table tennis team will also be appointed. This will help the players to rectify their mistakes and prepare well for the upcoming games, said Sanjay Singh, secretary of skill development and technical education.
