'We are Pakistan...': Salman Ali Agha warns ahead of India vs Pakistan match in T20 WC
Following a decisive 32-run victory over the United States in their Group A fixture, Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha has voiced strong confidence in his team's unconventional style.
Speaking at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Agha highlighted that the squad’s unique identity remains their primary weapon as they prepare for the high-stakes encounter against India.
Reflecting on the team's philosophy, Agha made a statement that quickly gained traction: “We are Pakistan, we do things differently to the world.”
This "different" approach was evident in their recent performance, where a much-improved display in the middle overs allowed them to post a formidable total of 190.
Agha noted that once they reached that mark, he felt certain his bowlers could defend it.
Confidence in the Bowling Unit
The skipper emphasised his faith in Pakistan's bowling attack, suggesting that their mindset is fearless regardless of whether they set or chase a target.
He further remarked that with their current bowling quality, the team feels capable of defending even lower scores in the range of 160 to 170.
Agha also pointed out the adaptability within the batting lineup. While the top three positions remain relatively stable, the rest of the order is designed to be fluid.
Looking Toward the India Showdown
Despite the win, the captain acknowledged that there is still work to be done, specifically regarding consistency during the powerplay overs.
However, with the monumental clash against India approaching, Agha believes Pakistan's momentum and their willingness to defy conventional cricketing strategies will be key factors in their quest for victory.
