In a much-needed development for Indian fans, star opener Abhishek Sharma has personally shared an update on his health status following a recent hospitalisation.
The update came via a viral social media clip posted by his teammate Arshdeep Singh, providing the first glimpse of the batter since he fell ill during the T20 World Cup 2026.
The 'Dal-Chawal' Recovery of Abhishek
In the light-hearted video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ManishSRH, Abhishek appeared in the Indian dressing room during a post-match meal following India’s win over Namibia.

When questioned by Arshdeep about his health and diet, Abhishek revealed that he is currently sticking to a very simple diet of "dal and rice" to aid his recovery from a severe stomach infection.
The opener also confirmed the physical toll of the illness, stating that he has lost approximately 2 kilograms of weight during his stay in the hospital.
Despite looking slightly lean, Abhishek appeared relaxed and told his teammate that he is 'on the way' to recovery.
Will AS Be Available for India-Pakistan T20 WC Match?
While Abhishek’s personal update suggests progress, the team management remains cautious.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s earlier comments during the toss against Namibia, where he suggested Abhishek might miss "a game or two", have kept fans on edge regarding the February 15 showdown against Pakistan.
However, bowler Varun Chakravarthy provided a more optimistic perspective during a post-match press interaction.

As the Indian squad travels to Colombo, the final decision on whether the world's top-ranked T20 batter will face Pakistan will depend on his endurance levels in the upcoming high-intensity net sessions.
For now, fans can take heart from seeing the opener back on his feet and in good spirits with his teammates.
