Defending champions India delivered a commanding performance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, thrashing Namibia by 93 runs in their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 clash on Thursday. After a clinical bowling display in their previous outing, the Men in Blue backed it up with a powerful batting effort to register a comprehensive win and build momentum in the tournament.
Asked to bat first, India got off to a flying start courtesy of openers Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. The duo attacked from the outset, scoring at a brisk pace and laying a solid platform. Samson smashed 22 off just 9 balls, while Kishan lit up the stadium with a blazing 61 off 24 deliveries.
Tilak Varma contributed 25 runs, and Hardik Pandya anchored the latter half with a valuable 52, guiding India to 209. At one stage, India looked set to cross 230, but regular wickets slowed the charge. For Namibia, skipper Gerhard Erasmus was the standout performer with four wickets.
Spinners Seal the Deal
Chasing 209 was always a daunting task against India’s experienced bowling attack. Namibia showed early intent, reaching 57 in the first six overs, but the required rate kept climbing. Indian spinners Varun and Axar Patel tightened the screws, sharing five wickets between them to derail the chase.
India eventually sealed a comfortable 93-run victory, reinforcing their title credentials. With confidence high, they now gear up for a high-voltage encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan on February 15, 2026.
