As the ICC Men's T20 World Cup enters its crucial semi-final stage, fans are anxiously watching the skies ahead of the India vs England clash at Wankhede Stadium.

While the weather forecast currently looks clear, concerns remain after two earlier matches in the tournament were washed out due to rain.

What happens if rain disrupts play?

To avoid controversy, the ICC has scheduled a reserve day for both semi-finals. If rain halts play on the match day, the game will either continue or restart on the reserve day. There is also additional time allotted — 90 minutes on the main day and 120 minutes on the reserve day. For the final, both days have 120 minutes of extra time.

For a result to be declared, both teams must bat at least 10 overs. If that minimum requirement is not met, the match will resume from the same score on the reserve day.

However, if the game cannot be completed even after the reserve day, the team that finished higher in the Super 8 stage will qualify for the final. India finished second in their group, while England topped theirs. That means England would progress if the match is abandoned.

In the other semi-final, South Africa national cricket team will advance over New Zealand national cricket team if their clash is washed out. The final is scheduled in Ahmedabad on March 8.
