A light-hearted exchange from India’s dressing room has caught the attention of fans ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. India batter Tilak Varma was seen giving a mock stern warning to pacer Arshdeep Singh after the latter jokingly filmed him without permission following India’s warm-up match against South Africa. The playful moment has since gone viral on social media.

Arshdeep Singh, known for his off-field humour, was seemingly recording a video of Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan after the match. Tilak, who was having his meal at the time, appeared mildly annoyed but clearly in jest as he scolded Arshdeep, saying, “Bina permission ke videos mat le” (Don’t film videos without permission). The clip reflected the relaxed and friendly atmosphere within the Indian camp.

Strong Performances Back the Banter

Beyond the viral moment, both players played key roles in India’s comprehensive 30-run victory over South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Playing his first match after returning from injury, Tilak Varma made an immediate impact with a blistering 45 off just 19 balls.

Arshdeep Singh was equally effective with the ball, picking up a crucial wicket and conceding only 29 runs in his four-over spell, helping India maintain control during South Africa’s chase.

India’s Batting Blitz

Opting to bat first, India put on a batting masterclass. Ishan Kishan led the charge with an explosive 53 off 20 balls, while he and Abhishek Sharma raced to 80/1 inside six overs before retiring out. Tilak and skipper Suryakumar Yadav added 66 runs rapidly, with late cameos from Axar Patel, Rinku Singh and Hardik Pandya’s 30 off 10 balls powering India to 240/5.

Eyes on the World Cup Opener

South Africa fell short despite fighting efforts, and India now shift focus to their World Cup opener against the USA on Saturday, carrying both momentum and smiles into the tournament.
