Indian bowling attack crippled Australian top order and forced the Australian to gain a small lead. Mohammed Siraj took 3 wickets while Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin managed to get 2 wickets each. Umesh Yadav in his little spell in the 2nd inning managed to take 1 wicket before getting out of the field due to calf injury.
