San Francisco: Photo-sharing platform Instagram is introducing a "recommended for you" feature -- which was so far being tested within a small group -- to all users.

"The new section, 'recommended for you', is clearly labelled so as not to be confused with your own home feed. It will contain three to five suggested posts," Tech Crunch quoted an Instagram spokesperson as saying late on Wednesday.

The new feature will show users Instagram posts that friends have liked or that the algorithm thinks will appeal to them directly in feed.

This is not the first time that the Facebook-owned company has offered recommended content.

Earlier, users had to head to the "explore" section to see recommended posts and videos. However, they were not pushed to the users' home feed.

Earlier this month, the photo and video-sharing platform introduced a way to allow users to follow hashtags which let them follow their interests instead of following just accounts.
