The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to show its strength by holding mega roadshows across Delhi today ahead of the crucial Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections scheduled to be held on December 4.

Amid the show of strength, the BJP national vice-president Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda on Sunday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of making false promises during elections.

According to the BJP national VP, the achievements of the BJP and the rate at which India is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have a direct impact on these local elections.

Besides, the BJP has lakhs of party workers while the AAP is hiring people for party-related works in Delhi. Moreover, there have been allegations of sale of tickets by the AAP for the MCD election. The excitement level in BJP for the election is too high, said Panda.

Be it setting up of e-waste eco park, investment in infrastructure development, garbage removal or works in schools and hospitals under MCD, BJP has taken a number of steps and the people of Delhi are appreciating the works done by the party, said Panda adding that BJP workers served people during Covid times.

“The AAP is standing on lies and false promises and they are now being caught. The APP leaders have been assuring people of cleaning River Yamuna each year since their government is in Delhi, but they are unable to utilise the central funds for the same purpose. There has been a massive liquor policy scam. Recently, AAP minister’s video of taking massage inside jail also went viral ,” Panda added.

According to Panda, the MCD election is even bigger than the Assembly election of some states as its budget is more than that of the budget of some states.

“Delhi has never witnessed such a mega road show that the BJP is organising today. Led by BJP national president JP Nadda, there will be 14 simultaneous roadshows today,” said Panda.

Chief Ministers of four states (Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Haryana CM ML Khattar, Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami) will take part in the event along with several Cabinet Ministers and leaders.

Panda further said that the roadshows will have a greater impact on the MCD election. After much hard work, the BJP has picked good candidates for the civic poll, he said. On being asked about anti-incumbency against the BJP, which has been ruling the MCD for the last 15 years, Panda said the AAP is levelling such allegations but the development works taken up by the BJP in the last 15 years speak more.

“Rather, there is anti-incumbency against the AAP as many leaders of the party have been accused of corruption in the last eight years, since the party (AAP) is in power in Delhi,” said the BJP national VP.
