Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new integrated terminal building of the Chennai airport on Saturday.
The new terminal, T-2 (Phase-1) is spanning over an area of 2,20,972 sqm.
It has been built at a cost of Rs 1,260 crore to cater to the growing air traffic in Tamil Nadu.
The swanky look of the terminal building reflects the rich culture of the state of Tamil Nadu.
The airport's new terminal building is also a reflection of the Modi government's commitment towards providing high-quality infrastructure to travellers.
The terminal building is expected to increase the passenger capacity of the Chennai airport from the current 23 million to 30 million per year.
This will be an important addition to Chennai’s infrastructure. It will boost connectivity and also benefit the local economy, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
