The 'Save Jagannath Temple' campaign is gathering steam with each passing day. Amid ongoing disputes over the Heritage Corridor project, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi reached Puri today to take blessings of Lord Jagannath. Take a look at the events that unfolded during her visit to the pilgrim town.
On way to Puri, the motorcade was stopped by police and administrative officials near Patapola at Chandanpur, citing that Collector had not given permission for the proposed padyatra.
Police forces were deployed in large numbers in Chandanpur to prevent any untoward incident.
The carcade wasn't allowed to move further as 'there was no permission for any padyatra programme by the protestors of the Parikrama Prakalp'
After being intercepted by the officials, MP Aparajita Sarangi decided to have darshan of the Holy Trinity by walking on foot. Here she can be seen taking the walk-way from Patapola to Puri Srimandir.
No permission is required for darshan of Mahaprabhu Jagannath. If Odisha govt is on right path, why is it so afraid? This is not a party programme, many people who are opposing the project have assembled, says the BJP MP.
