Biswakarmas (chief carpenters) began chariot construction work on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya after the priests of Srimandir handed over the ‘agyanmala’ (order of Lord Jagannath) to them. The 'Maharanas'(carpenters) and 'bhoi' (log transporters) servitors then joined in.
