Indian classical dance extravaganza, ‘Konark Festival’- 2021, kicked off at Konark on Wednesday following inauguration by CM Naveen Patnaik. The five-day programme is being organised by the state tourism department in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi and OTDC. A few distance away, the pristine Chandrabhaga Beach in Konark also witnesses renowned sand artists from across the globe sculpting unique creations on the beach during these five days.
The inaugural show witnessed Odissi performance by Madhavi Mudgal & Group led by Odissi exponent Padma Shri Madhavi Mudgal from Gandharv Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi.
The elegant and charming dancers performed Odissi dance recitals on Nartan Ganesh, Pallavi, Abhinaya and Trayi.
The event is organised every year during this time at the open-air auditorium with the backdrop of the iconic Konark Sun Temple enlivening the atmosphere.
Konark festival serves as a platform for renowned classical dancers in India to showcase India’s cultural depth through various dance forms including Odissi, Kathak, Satriya, Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, and Kuchipudi among others.
