A youth was shot dead in broad daylight in Cuttack’s Nuapada Press Colony on Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the locality. The incident occurred while a feast was underway, turning what was meant to be a social gathering into a scene of panic and tragedy.
Firing During Feast
According to preliminary information, a group of youths had assembled for a feast in the area when unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire. During the firing, one of the youths, identified as Soumyaranjan Jena, sustained a bullet injury to his chest. The sudden gunshot created chaos at the spot, with those present scrambling for safety.

Soumyaranjan was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts by doctors to save him, he succumbed to his injuries. Medical authorities later confirmed his death.

Police personnel from the concerned police station reached the spot soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation into the incident.
