A pall of gloom descended over Isisinga village in Odisha's Boudh district following the death of a youth who fell off a 15-foot-high bridge on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Barun Behera, a resident of Isisinga village under Boudh police limits.
According to reports, Barun, was travelling from Isisinga village to Boudh on his bike for some work when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle near the Polytechnic College.
He reportedly rammed into the bridge railing and plunged into the drain below along with his bike.
Local residents soon noticed the accident and saw Barun lying in the drainage water.
Boudh District Collector, who was passing by the same route at the time of the incident, immediately informed the Boudh police.
Responding promptly, a team from the Baghiapada outpost reached the spot, retrieved the victim, and rushed him to the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
However, doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, as the incident serves as a grim reminder of the need for caution and better safety measures on bridges and narrow roads in the region.
