Family members alleged that Malay had been attacked multiple times in the past due to the ongoing dispute.

On the intervening evening, the relatives reportedly launched a joint assault on him, leaving him critically injured. He was first taken to Anandapur hospital and later shifted to Cuttack SCBMCH for advanced treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Malay succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening. Following his death, family members brought the body to Ghasipura police station and lodged a written complaint, accusing relatives of killing him over the land dispute.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. Further legal action is expected as authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“In the evening at around 7.00 PM yesterday, Malay had an altercation with his cousin brother. On hearing this, some members of the cousin’s family went to the spot with lathis in their hands,” the deceased’s father, Gobinda Chandra Mudi, said to mediapersons.

“They beat him severely. Malay was attacked by one of them on his head. He had profuse bleeding, and he collapsed on the ground,” Gobinda Mudi stated.
