A youth was arrested in Odisha's Ganjam district on Sunday after a video of him brandishing a sword and issuing death threats went viral on social media. The accused has been identified as Sushant Goud of Dumbula village under Digapahandi block.

According to reports, Sushant allegedly threatened to kill three individuals while brandishing a sword and recorded a video of the act, which he later uploaded on social media. 

After the video circulated widely, police registered a case and began an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the individual carried out the act to gain views, popularity, and followers online.

Police Response and Seizure

Upon the video reaching Berhampur Superintendent of Police, he immediately directed local police officials to identify and take strict action against the youth. 

The police subsequently traced the video, apprehended Sushant, and seized the sword along with his mobile phone.

Legal Proceedings and Warning

Following his arrest, Sushant’s bail plea was rejected, and he was sent to Digapahandi Sub-Jail custody.

Authorities stated that such behaviour on social media could attract legal consequences and serves as a cautionary example for others engaging in similar acts online.
