Cuttack witnessed a death incident at Biren Mitra Women’s College in Thoria Sahi locality, where a sweeper was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Babu Nayak Das, was discovered hanging in a common room inside the college premises.

Babu was around 61 years old. His body was spotted hanging by a plastic rope in the common room. It is said that he was under mental pressure.
On being informed, local police immediately reached the spot and recovered the body. The reason behind the staffer’s untimely demise remains unclear at this point.
Following standard procedure, Mangalabag police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body to SCB Hospital (SCBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
“We cannot say as to why this happened. We are not even sure why my father took such an extreme step. That is why we lodged an FIR and called the police. Things will become clear after the post-mortem report comes in,” the deceased’s daughter said to OTV.
“Some people informed us at our home that my father has committed suicide. We rushed to the spot to see find him dead,” the woman expressed.
Police have launched a detailed probe into the suspicious death. However, no comments were received from the local police in this regard.
