Hundreds of women from Dunguripali block in Ramapur, Subarnapur district staged a mass rally on Saturday, demanding a ban on alcohol sales in their area.

The women, angry over the continued sale of both domestic and foreign liquor, marched through the streets of Ramapur, visiting homes and shops where alcohol was being sold to raise awareness and demand action.

During the rally, the women reportedly went to the local police station, urging the authorities to take strict action against illegal alcohol sellers. They warned residents and shopkeepers repeatedly about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption and demanded immediate cessation of sales. Despite their repeated complaints in the past, locals say alcohol continues to be openly sold in Ramapur, prompting this large-scale protest.

One of the protestors expressed frustration at the inaction of authorities, saying, “Why the police is doing nothing those who are consuming it. If they are unable to do anything we can directly go to Sonepur collector's office and will ask to stop this selling of illegal alcohol.”

Authorities have been urged to take immediate steps to curb liquor sales and enforce existing regulations, ensuring that the women’s demands are heard and addressed.

The women doing rally continue their campaign until effective action is taken.
