Woman poisoned for practicing witchcraft, accused duo arrested

Keonjhar: A woman was allegedly poisoned by her sister-in-law and nephew for performing black magic at Hadabahal village under Ramachandrapur police limits here on Monday.

"Based on complaint filed by son of the deceased woman, we have arrested the accused duo - Hira Majhi and Rabindra," informed Ramachandrapur IIC, Rajendra Swain adding that they are being interrogated to elicit more information.

As per reports, Rabindra’s wife was childless after many years of marriage. He suspected 58-year-old Phula of performing witchcraft and holding her responsible for not having a child, Rabindra and Hira reportedly forced Phula to drink the poison last evening.

Though Phula was rushed to the hospital, she could not be saved, reports added.

"A scientific team has rushed to the spot for investigation and body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem , added Swain.
