Woman dies in front of child in road accident in Bhubaneswar

In a heart-wrenching road accident, a woman died in front of her child on National Highway-16 near Gangapada area under the Info Valley Police Station in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

According to reports, the woman was riding a scooter when she suddenly lost control of the vehicle and fell onto the road. At that very moment, a speeding hyva truck approaching from behind ran over her, killing her on the spot.

The woman’s son, who was accompanying her, sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was immediately rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety and the movement of heavy vehicles on busy stretches of national highways. 

Local police have started an investigation into the accident.

A few days back, a woman and her two young children were killed after a truck rammed into their car near Korlama Chhak, close to the Gajapati district border.

The incident occurred as the family was returning home after celebrating the New Year together, leaving the local community in shock and grief.
