A serious allegation of rape has emerged from the Dharmasala outpost area under Birmaharajpur police station in Sonepur district, Odisha. A young woman, employed at a private company near Hikudi village, filed a complaint stating that she was allegedly raped after being sprayed in the face by unidentified individuals.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Friday evening while the woman was returning home from work. Near the ITI, she was reportedly approached by three masked youths who allegedly dragged and pushed her before spraying an unknown substance on her face. She alleged that she was raped following the attack.

The woman stated that she could not identify the assailants. However, based on her complaint, the police have detained two individuals for questioning and have initiated an investigation. Birmaharajpur SDPO has confirmed the development.

Statement from Official

Sonepur SDPO Hemant Rao said, “As per the allegation of the victim, a case was registered. As per the complaint, she finished her work at office and on her way back three youths misbehaved with her after stopping her and sprayed something on her face following which she fell unconsciousness. She alleged that she was raped arfter that. We are verifying her allegations and the investigation is ongoing. We have detained two individuals under suspicion.”

Reports indicate that the woman is currently in stable health. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
