The Regional Met Department has forecast a renewed dip in temperature after two days. While Cyclone Ditwah did not have a direct impact on Odisha, light rainfall is expected today in Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada.

Kandhamal Continues to Shiver

Kandhamal remains significantly colder than most regions of the state. Since early November, the district has frequently recorded sub-15°C temperatures, with several days slipping below 10°C.

On Monday, the district reported cloudy skies, dense fog, and near-zero visibility, with sunlight failing to appear even after 8 am. The harsh weather has disrupted daily life, particularly affecting traffic movement due to poor visibility. Despite the cold spell, the district continues to attract tourists seeking to experience the winter chill.

Twin Cities See Mild Winter

In contrast, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack witnessed relatively warmer conditions, with minimal impact from the cold wave. The colder weather remains concentrated in districts such as Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for fog in these regions as cold and foggy conditions continue.

Cyclone Ditwah Alters Temperature Trend

The influence of Cyclone Ditwah caused a temporary rise in temperatures across parts of Odisha. However, officials say that once the system’s residual effects recede, night temperatures are expected to fall again, possibly reaching 3–4°C in some areas later this week.

Light rainfall is likely only in select southern districts, with the rest of the state expected to remain dry.
