Although Anita survived the crash, recalling the incident still leaves her visibly shaken. She said she witnessed the aircraft going down and briefly saw the pilot fall from his seat after the impact. However, Anita is unable to remember what had happened afterwards. She had later regained her consciousness in the hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with a serious head injury.
Anita had been receiving continuous treatment due to the severity of her condition. Doctors had kept her under close observation before finally allowing her to return home following steady recovery.
Earlier, the two pilots and four other passengers injured in the same accident were also discharged and have returned home. Unfortunately, one passenger succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Rourkela aircraft crash had triggered widespread discussion across the country.
“The aircraft had crash-landed. Before the emergency landing, my brother (who was also travelling with Anita) told me that we had reached closer to our destination and only a few moments were left to reach home,” the recovered female passenger recounted.
“I could also see farmlands and a water body (through the aircraft’s window). We were about to land when the aircraft crashed into the ground. I can’t recall what happened thereafter. When I got back my consciousness, I was on hospital bed,” Anita said.
Worth mentioning, previously, the pilot of the aircraft, Captain Tarun Srivastava, was discharged from the hospital on January 23 after undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. He had been receiving medical care after being injured in the mishap.
