Weather Update: Eight Places In Odisha Record Above 40 Degree Celsius

Bhubaneswar: Amid Coronavirus lockdown in Odisha, people in the State have now begun to face the initial impact of blistering heat with as many eight places in Odisha recording temperature above 40 degree Celsius on Sunday.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Met Centre, Titlagarh registered highest temperature of the day with 41 degree Celsius followed by Chandbali (40.8), Bhawanipatna (40.5), Bolangir (40.5) and Boudh (40.5).

The mercury also breached 40 degree mark in the State Capital Bhubaneswar which recorded maximum temperature of 40.2 degree Celsius on Sunday. Two other places which recorded above 40 degree temperature are Sonepur (40.2) and Talcher (40.1).

Silver city Cuttack and Malkangiri also registered forty degree temperature today.

The weather department said all stations except Rayagada, Balasore and Paradip in the State witnessed an increase in the maximum temperature. The maximum temperature is likely to be increased by 1-2 degree in most places in the next two days, it added.

On the other hand, light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri and Ganjam tomorrow while dry weather will prevail over the rest of the districts.

Similarly, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts will witness light to moderate rainfall on April 14.
