Bhubaneswar: After joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi today arrived in Odisha to a rousing reception and said that she will work for the overall development of the State.

Known as a ‘disciplined bureaucrat,’ Sarangi asserted that she will work for the people and is willing to take whatever role is given to her by the top leadership of BJP.

“We, not I want to make Odisha the leading State in the country in all respects,” said Sarangi adding that the people of the State are hardworking and with support of all we can bring a major change.

Sarangi further informed that she has joined as a mere BJP worker and whatever role is assigned to her she will try to discharge her duty with utmost dedication and discipline.

Moreover, she said that it was the pace with which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working that inspired her to join the BJP.

“One needs to ask whether there has been development or not and I personally feel that there is a need to give an impetus to development so that there can be a positive change. I joined BJP as it believes in speedy development,” Sarangi added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Aparajita Sarangi had formally joined BJP at a program held at the residence of party’s national president Amit Shah in New Delhi on November 27.

Many senior leaders including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP's Odisha unit president Basant Panda and State in-charge Arun Singh were also present during the program.

As there are no leaders in BJP, it seems that the party is relying extensively on Aparajita, said BJD leader Surya Narayan Patro.

“CM Naveen Patnaik is a man for development and those who are saying there has been no development should get themselves checked,” Patro said in response to Sarangi’s statements.
