Kalahandi: Vigilance sleuths took Civil Supplies Officer (CSO) of Kalahandi, Siba Shankar Dora into custody after unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 1.10 lakh was recovered from his vehicle on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Kalahandi Vigilance division led by DSP Satyaban Mahananda intercepted Dora’s vehicle near Hill Town in the district while he was on his way to home from office yesterday and recovered cash worth Rs1.10 lakh from his possession.

The anti-corruption team took the Civil Supplies Officer into custody after he failed to give satisfactory explanation about the seized cash.

Following the seizure, Vigilance team also conducted simultaneous raids at his rented house in Kalahandi and paternal house in Nabarangpur.

“After being tipped off that Dora was carrying around Rs 5 lakh, that he had illegally collected from the millers in the district, we intercepted him midway and raided his vehicle. We seized Rs 1.10 lakh from his possession,” informed Kalahandi Vigilance DSP, Satyaban Mahananda.

“When he could not give satisfactory reply regarding the source of the cash, we took him into custody. Further investigation into the case is underway,” added the DSP.
