Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia actor Debu Bose who worked extensively in films and television shows passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was 75.

Bose was suffering from illness and was under treatment in Hyderabad since last four months. He had earlier suffered cardiac arrest on two occasions.

Starting his career with Tapasya movie in the 80s, Bose was one of the most influential actors in the Odia movie industry. The actor has over 120 movies to his credit spanning over four decades.

Bose won millions of hearts portraying the role of ‘father’ in superhit Ollywood films like Pua Moro Kala Thakura, Samay Kheluchhi Chaka Bhaunri, Ki Heba Sua Posile, Phula Chandana and Suna Chadhei.

Ollywood movie Rasta which hit theatres in 2014 was Bose’s last movie.

Besides acting, Bose was an expert dancer and choreographer. He had received training from renowned Odissi dancer Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. This apart, he had also directed several plays during his stint with a regional theatre group ‘Diganta’.

The entire Ollywood fraternity expressed their grief at the sad demise of the legendary actor.
