Union Minister Amit Shah’s Odisha visit: Traffic restrictions announced in Bhubaneswar, check routes

The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, has announced traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar on March 5 and 6, 2026, in view of the visit of the Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister of India Amit Shah to Odisha. 

The dignitary is scheduled to attend various programmes in the city during the two-day visit.

The restrictions have been imposed to ensure the safety of the dignitary and to facilitate better regulation and free flow of traffic in the interest of the general public. 

The order has been issued under Section 28 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 (Odisha Act 8 of 2007) and in pursuance of Regulation 36 of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulation, 2008.

Routes And Timings Of Restrictions

On March 5, 2026 (Thursday), vehicular movement will be restricted from 8 pm to 8.45 pm on Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square (left turn), Lok Bhavan Square (right turn), Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Shastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar Square and XIMB Square.

On March 6, 2026 (Friday), restrictions will be in force from 9.45 am to 10.35 am on Jaydev Vihar Square, XIMB Square, Nalco Square, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandankanan Square, Baranga Golel (right turn), Puri Canal (left turn), Godisahi Canal Chhak (left turn) and CISF KRTC, Mundali, Cuttack.

Further restrictions will apply from 4.30 pm to 5 pm on Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square, PMG Square, Rabindra Mandap Square, Housing Board Square (right turn) and Ram Mandir Square. 

From 6.30 pm to 7 pm, restrictions will be imposed on Ram Mandir Square, Housing Board Square (left turn), Rabindra Mandap Square, PMG Square, AG Square, Hospital Square and Airport Square.

Advisory To Commuters

No vehicles will be allowed to ply on the specified roads or enter from connecting lanes and by-lanes during the notified timings. However, the restrictions will not apply to emergency vehicles such as fire services and ambulances.

The Commissionerate Police has urged commuters and residents to avoid the affected routes, use alternate roads wherever possible, plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time. 
Citizens have also been requested to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow all instructions to ensure smooth regulation of traffic in the city.
