‘Unclaimed parcel’ on Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express sparks panic among passengers

A suspicious and unclaimed parcel discovered aboard the Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express on Wednesday sparked panic among passengers and triggered a prompt security response from the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The incident occurred while the train was passing through Jharkhand, creating a sudden wave of anxiety among travellers.

According to initial reports, the parcel was found a coach, reportedly B1, by passengers, who immediately alerted the onboard RPF personnel. With no individual stepping forward to claim ownership, officers cordoned off the area and launched a preliminary inspection. The unidentified nature of the package and uncertainty regarding its contents further heightened concerns among those in the coach.

Sources said the Rajdhani Express was instructed to halt at the next major station, where the suspicious parcel could be safely offloaded. Once the train arrived, RPF officials carefully deboarded the package and secured it for a detailed examination. Only after the removal of the parcel was the train permitted to resume its journey toward Bhubaneswar.

Inside the coach, the incident created palpable tension, with many passengers expressing fear as they observed increased movement of security personnel and heightened vigilance. The RPF maintained strict monitoring around the area until the parcel was taken off the train.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the parcel contains anything hazardous. As of the latest update, no individual has come forward to claim it, and the package remains under inspection.
