Two-year-old thrown off bike, couple injured in Bhubaneswar road mishap

In a spine-chilling road accident, an SUV (Bolero) rammed into a motorcycle from behind, triggering panic at Nandan Vihar area in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

As per reports, the impact of the collision was so severe that a two-year-old child, who was on the motorcycle along with the couple, was thrown off onto the road.

The motorcyclist sustained injuries in the mishap, while his wife suffered critical injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured woman is reported to be serious.

Following the accident, enraged locals alleged that the Bolero driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident. In a fit of anger, they detained both the driver and the vehicle at the spot, leading to a temporary traffic jam in the area.

Upon receiving information, local police reached the scene, took custody of the driver and seized the Bolero, shifting both to the police station for further investigation.

After police intervention, the traffic congestion in the area was cleared and normal vehicular movement was restored.

An investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the accident, while police have reiterated strict action against drunk driving to prevent such tragic incidents.
