In a major crackdown, Jagatsinghpur Police conducted a large-scale raid at Beheram Basti under Sadar Police Station on Sunday, detaining two suspected Bangladeshi nationals and seizing a significant cache of weapons. The operation was launched following intelligence inputs about illegal occupants and suspicious activities in the area.

According to police, the officials received information that more than 30 suspected Bangladeshi nationals were staying in a rented house in the locality. During the operation, officers recovered deadly weapons, country-made firearms and other suspicious materials believed to have been stored for unlawful purposes.

Police sources confirmed that a scuffle broke out between the raiding team and the suspected Bangladeshis as officers attempted to enter the premises. Despite resistance, the police managed to detain two individuals for questioning.

Heavy Deployment After Tension in the Area

In response to the tense situation, authorities deployed two platoons of police forces at the site to maintain law and order. The sudden raid also triggered chaos in the locality, with reports indicating that over 10 families fled the area, fearing arrest or interrogation.

Investigation Continues

Police are now verifying the identities and immigration documents of all individuals linked to the house. Investigators are also probing whether the suspects were involved in activities beyond illegal residence.
