Two Odisha plus 3 students injured in assault by outsiders during college function

Tension prevailed at Government College in Bolangir on Saturday after two Plus Three students were injured in an alleged attack by outsiders during the college’s annual festival. The scuffle occurred when, allegedly, a group of outsiders entered the campus amid the celebrations, triggering chaos and violence.

According to preliminary information, when six to seven outsiders attempted to create a disturbance, the students tried to stop them, following which the outsiders launched an attack. The sudden attack left both students injured, triggering panic among those present on the campus.

Police Begin Investigation

Upon receiving information, Puintala Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident. The injured students were immediately shifted to the Bolangir District Headquarters Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

"We were heading outside when some college students called people from outside to attack us. We did not know them; there were around five individuals. There was a function taking place at our college today. The college authorities failed to take any action to prevent outsiders from entering the campus and indulging in such violence. The administration should take strict action,” said the injured student.

Festival Cancelled, Tension Continues

Following the incident, the college authorities cancelled the annual festival midway as a precautionary measure. Tension prevailed on the campus, with students and staff demanding stricter security to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident has raised serious concerns over campus security and the entry of outsiders during college events. Police investigation is underway, while the situation at the college remains tense as authorities work to restore normalcy.
