The Government of India on Friday officially announced the induction of two officers from Odisha’s Non-State Civil Services into the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
The appointments were notified by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training) and will be published in the Gazette of India, Part I, Section 2.
According to the notification, the appointments have been made under the provisions of the IAS Recruitment Rules, 1954, the IAS Appointment by Selection Regulations, 1997, and the IAS Probation Rules, 1954.
The officers have been selected for the IAS Select List of 2024, based on vacancies arising between January 1 and December 31, 2024, and in consultation with the Odisha State Government.
The two officers who have been appointed to the IAS are:
• Sundara Madhaba Padhi (Date of Birth: 20 July 1979)
• Smita Pani (Date of Birth: 22 December 1974)
Both officers have been placed on probation until further orders and have been allocated to the Odisha Cadre under Rule 5(1) of the IAS Cadre Rules, 1954.
The Centre has also directed the Chief Secretary of Odisha to forward the notification to the concerned officers and submit proposals for the fixation of seniority and year of allotment, as per the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules.
Copies of the order have been sent to the Accountant General, Odisha, the UPSC Secretary, the Establishment Officer & Additional Secretary, and the Director of LBSNAA, among others.
